How to get your Residence Permit in Hungary
- If you arrive with a Type D visa:

- Production Delay: Because it takes approximately 3 to 4 weeks for the card to be manufactured, it will not be ready the moment you land.
- Collection Point: To simplify the process, the permit is mailed directly to the University rather than the immigration office.
- Pick-up Location: Once your card arrives, your specific enrolled Partner University will notify you where to collect it, typically through their student services or international office.
- Travel Rights: Your residence permit grants you the right to live in Hungary and travel within the Schengen Area as a tourist for up to 90 days.
- Address Updates: If your living arrangements change from the address you originally gave the Embassy, you must report your new residence to the immigration office using the Enter Hungary online portal.
- Minor Students: If you will be under 18 at the time of your enrollment, you are legally considered a minor and must follow the specific guidelines and provide the required parental authorization forms listed in the "Documents" section.
